The Schluter-KERDI-DRAIN is a floor drain designed to connect to the KERDI waterproofing membrane or other bonded waterproofing membranes capable of receiving loads. It has a wide flange onto which the KERDI membrane is bonded, ensuring a watertight joint at the surface of the assembly intended for tiling. The system consists of a body and either a fully adjustable grate assembly or a tileable plate: the grate assembly adapts to different tile thicknesses and offers lateral and tilt adjustments, while the tileable plate, installed flush with the flange, is suitable for tiles of any thickness.
The standard model connects directly to the drainage pipe. The body is available in ABS, PVC or stainless steel. The plastic bodies feature a bonding flange covered with non-woven fabric and are offered with standard 2" (50 mm) and 3" (75 mm) outlets, to be joined to the piping using appropriate adhesive. Stainless steel bodies offer standard no-hub outlets in 2" (50 mm) and 3" (75 mm) as well as a threaded 2" (50 mm) outlet: the no-hub outlet connects to the plumbing via an appropriate flexible or mechanical coupling, while threaded outlets are assembled using pipe sealant or sealing tape. Thanks to their compatibility with standard outlets, KERDI-DRAINs are suitable for both new construction and renovation work.
The KERDI-DRAIN adapter assembly allows conversion of a traditional clamping-ring drain into a drain with an integrated bonding flange. It includes a stainless steel adapter ring fitted with a rubber gasket and drilled with a series of holes compatible with common shower drains. The ring replaces the clamping ring and attaches to the drain body with the existing nuts; sealing is ensured by the rubber gasket and by the Schluter-KERDI-FIX adhesive/sealant. The bonding flange inserts into the adapter's gasket to create a watertight assembly. Adapter assemblies, offered in diameters 5-1/4" (133 mm) and 7-1/2" (191 mm), are especially useful when replacing a clamping-ring drain is difficult (for example if it is stuck in a slab) and are suitable for mortar-bed installations as well as KERDI-SHOWER-T/‑TS/‑TT bases.
The KERDI-DRAIN grate assembly includes a frame adjustable in height and laterally to suit tile thickness and positioning, plus a grate or drainage cover that inserts into the frame. The standard 4" (100 mm) assembly provides an exposed gap of about 1/8" (3 mm) once installed and is available in stainless steel (raw, chrome, nickel, polished brass, antique brass, rose gold or oil-rubbed bronze finishes) or anodized aluminum (brushed nickel, brushed copper or brushed brass finishes). The 4" (100 mm) STYLE frame, with minimal visible surface, pairs with three grate patterns: Floral (E), Curve (F) or Pure (G). STYLE grates are offered in brushed stainless steel (finishes: raw, nickel, polished brass, antique brass, rose gold) and textured colored aluminum (stone gray, cream, greige, bronze, matte black and matte white). The 4" stainless tile plate is covered with KERDI membrane and designed to receive tile or stone, yielding an almost invisible drain appearance. The 6" (150 mm) square or round frames in stainless steel, leaving an exposed gap of about 3/16" (5 mm) after installation, accept stainless steel grates or cleaning covers. Note that the grates supplied with the KERDI-DRAIN plastic model with 3" (75 mm) outlet and the residential adapter kit offer only vertical and tilt adjustment (no lateral adjustment).
