Description

The Schluter-DITRA-HEAT-DUO membrane combines the benefits of a custom heated floor with the proven characteristics of the DITRA membrane: uncoupling, waterproofing, vapor management and substrate support for durable installations. It incorporates a felt layer that limits heat loss into the substrate during warm-up, speeds the floor heating response and helps reduce impact noise between floors. Impact sound attenuation is often a concern in multi-storey buildings, especially when installing ceramic or natural stone. Many acoustic insulation materials compress and do not properly support tiles. DITRA-HEAT-DUO reduces sound transmission while providing proper support for the tile, enabling long-lasting installations. DITRA-HEAT-DUO combines the flexibility of loose heating cable with the ease of a membrane: the heating cables can be arranged freely without creating a buildup, and it is not necessary to cover the cables with a self-leveling compound, which simplifies and speeds up installation. For millennia, integrating an uncoupling layer has allowed shear stresses to be compensated. Thanks to its geometry, DITRA-HEAT-DUO permits horizontal movements that neutralize differential stresses between the substrate and the tile — the primary cause of tile cracking and debonding. Made of polypropylene, the membrane provides reliable waterproofing to protect the substrate against moisture — an essential point today since many substrates are sensitive to water. The cavities under the membrane allow excess moisture and vapor from the substrate to escape, reducing the risk of damage to tiled coverings. DITRA-HEAT-DUO therefore provides effective moisture management beneath the covering. On a solid base, columns of mortar form on and between the membrane's studs to transfer the tile load to the substrate. Practically incompressible once integrated into the tiled assembly, DITRA-HEAT-DUO delivers the benefits of uncoupling without compromising load distribution. DITRA-HEAT is compatible with coverings such as engineered wood, vinyl, wood-plastic composite (WPC), luxury vinyl tile (LVT) or plank (LVP), stone-plastic composite (SPC) tiles or planks, and laminate floors.
