The 10 decor trends for 2025 – by Julie Deslauriers

Les 10 tendances déco 2025 – par Julie Deslauriers

Colors, textures, shapes, influences, materials: what will shape decor this year? Here are the 10 trends for 2025.

They say that the years go by and look the same... But when it comes to decor, there's always something new. Certainly, trends mentioned last year (read my article " here") are coming back and seem to want to anchor themselves in our decor. Others, brand new, contrast with what we've seen recently and promise a welcome renewal.

Here, in a nutshell, straight from my crystal ball, are the 10 decor trends for 2025, with visuals to back them up.

The spirit of the 70s

We announced it last year, this big comeback. Gone are the sterile, white, and rectilinear decors. The new trend is inspired by the exuberant 70s, with their bright colors and geometric patterns, their slightly crazy festive spirit. It's also the return of turntables and vinyl records – 33 rpm – whose pretty covers are on display.

The purple effect

Purple tones are definitely in the spotlight in 2025. Three paint manufacturers have drawn inspiration from them to define their color of the year: Benjamin Moore with Cinnamon Slate , Bétonel with Violet Basil and Behr with Rumors . The result is chic, elegant, rich and warm. A local company, Luminaire Authentik, has launched a new collection, Cerise Lustré , “a deep and enveloping red, inspired by French boudoirs, silky velvet and refined lacquers,” they say. I LOVE IT!

Green, the new gray

In the 2010s, gray arrived in our homes: on the walls, but also on cabinet doors, vanities, porcelain and ceramics... Today, green is becoming the new gray. Reminiscent of nature, it soothes our decor, creating a calm and serene atmosphere. When a color stands out in such a way, especially on fixed elements that are difficult to replace, we know the trend is here to stay!

The warmth of earthy hues

Still on the color front, beige accessories from recent years are warming up to the max, donning earthy hues—which also pair wonderfully with green. Rust-colored throws, terracotta pots, orange wood—the list goes on: expect to see plenty of objects in shades ranging from warm brown to vibrant ochre.

Ever more organic forms

We've seen this trend coming for a while. We even talked about it in an article on 2023 trends , that's saying something! By organic shapes, we mean curved lines, as opposed to the straight lines that have reigned for so many years. These organic shapes can be fluid, but also imperfect, or asymmetrical. We see them in handmade accessories (dishes and pottery), ceramics, lighting, seating (armchairs and sofas) – even arches are in.

At floor level…

What's in for flooring in 2025? Marble, always marble, for its elegance and sophistication. Long, wide wooden planks in warm hues (honey, blond, gold). Herringbone installation, reminiscent of large French parquet floors. Finally, XL ceramic tiles (below), in both the bathroom and living room.

From texture to ceiling

This will surprise many, but we are now dealing with the fifth wall: the ceiling. First option: color drenching , which consists of painting the ceiling the same color as the walls, for an enveloping effect. If the room is small, you can dare to go with a dark color; if the room is large, we will prefer a softer shade. Second option: wallpaper – yes, wallpaper on the ceiling! Personally, I would try it first in a small room, like a bathroom. Third option: a stretch canvas (also called a "stretch ceiling") which, similar to a mirror, illuminates and enlarges the room. Are you more traditional? There is always paneling, which our ancestors used in abundance, and which adds a touch of almost nostalgic charm…

The return of the chrome finish

Over the years, chrome finishes have been traded for gold, brass, white, or black... Well, it's back! It's found in faucets, lighting fixtures, and furniture and seating bases. Reflecting light and bringing a certain elegance, the chrome finish is no longer considered futuristic, but rather a nod to the 70s.

Decorative rugs like works of art

After neutral rugs, here come the star rugs! Graphic and/or colorful, they impress in the same way as a work of art on a wall. Of course, you have to pay attention to the arrangement with the existing furniture – but since the trend is towards exuberance, you can indulge in new combinations that would have raised eyebrows not so long ago…

Plants and plants

Another trend that has been emerging for a few years and is now firmly established: true nature indoors. Translation: plants and plants, everywhere in the house. I have several in my living room, small, large, climbing, hanging… I have some on my kitchen windowsill, in my bedroom, and even in my bathroom, which nevertheless receives no natural light (the spider plant is practically indestructible). Plants bring beauty, they purify the air, they reduce stress… Plants are a presence, a life with which we really interact. (I talk to my plants, I even play music for them!) For inspiration, follow the accounts of these two enthusiasts, @hiltoncarter and @laura_pigeon . And remember, a green thumb can be developed!
